Prof Prabhat Ranjan heads Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council(TIFAC) as its Executive Director since April 2013. TIFAC is set up as a Technology Think Tank and is an autonomous body of Dept of Science and Technology, Govt of India. Recently Prime Minister of India launched Technology Vision 2035 prepared by TIFAC by Prof Ranjan under his leadership.
Prof Ranjan was full time scientist working on Nuclear Fusion in National Labs in India and USA and he made major contributions to this field for nearly two decades till 2002.
For 11 years starting 2002, he was Professor at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology(DA-IICT), Gandhinagar. His research area spanned a number of areas such as Moon Mission, Wildlife Tracking, Nuclear Fusion, Assistive Technologies and Agriculture.
He is well known for many innovations, which have helped to put smiles on the faces of persons with severe disability.
He obtained his PhD from Univ of California, Berkeley and did college education from IIT Kharagpur and Delhi University. He did his schooling from famous Netarhat School near Ranchi.
He has received many awards for his contribution to Science and Technology and contribution to society.
