Karunakar is an active member in Indic FOSS activities. As project coordinator of the Indian Linux Project (http //www.indlinux.org), he drove Indian language enablement of FOSS software and making a fully Indian language enable Linux distribution for languages like Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Oriya, Telugu etc. As Hindi coordinator for GNOME & KDE, he has driven the voluntary localization efforts for Hindi. As Internationalization expert and trainer he has presented in many forums and helped bootstrap many language initiatives and organize Indic events like Indic Fonts Workshop (2003), Indic Developers meet (2004, 2005) and several localization sprints. He has been active in standardization efforts for Hindi translation terminology. In past, he has worked with organizations like FreeOS.com, Netcore Solutions, Sarai – CSDS, Symantec. At present he working with Avaya Inc as I18N Architect.
